Memory that moves between Claude, Cursor and ChatGPT
Each AI tool remembers inside its own walls, so the useful thing is one memory they all connect to.
You talk through an architecture question in Claude on Tuesday. On Wednesday you open Cursor to build it, and Cursor has no idea the conversation happened. Thursday you ask ChatGPT for a second opinion and explain the whole thing a third time. None of the tools is broken. They just don't share anything with each other.
Palim is a hosted MCP server that all three connect to. You save a decision once, from whichever tool you're in, and search for it from the others.
What actually moves
Palim stores four kinds of things, and each has its own use.
A checkpoint is a short handoff: the goal, where things stand, decisions made, open items, next steps. It's what a fresh chat in another tool needs to continue, and it updates in place as the work goes on.
A session is a complete conversation with messages and a summary, for when you want the full record and not just the outcome.
A memory is one fact, preference or decision that isn't tied to a conversation, like "we use PostgreSQL 15" or "no bullet points in answers".
The Brain is built from your saved summaries. Palim folds them into topic documents on the server, without sending them to a language model, and you can export them as a Markdown vault.
Saves can carry a project name and tags. When you start a new chat, palim_resume returns the thread you last worked on as a ready handoff, optionally filtered by project or tool.
Connecting each tool
All clients use the same endpoint: https://api.usepalim.com/mcp.
In Claude (web and desktop), add a custom connector with that URL and sign in. In Claude Code, run claude mcp add --transport http palim https://api.usepalim.com/mcp. It opens the sign-in on first use. In Cursor, add the URL under Settings → Tools & MCP or in .cursor/mcp.json, and Cursor runs the OAuth flow. In ChatGPT, you need a paid plan: enable Developer Mode, create an app with the URL and OAuth, turn off OIDC, then pick @Palim in each chat. Perplexity and other MCP clients connect with an API key or connection URL. The integration docs have the steps for each client.
A handoff that works
1. In Claude, after you settle something: "Save this decision to Palim with the options we rejected."
2. In Cursor, before it edits code: "Search Palim for the auth redirect decision and plan from that."
3. After implementing: "Save a checkpoint with what changed and what's still open."
4. Next day, any tool: "Resume from Palim."
To make steps 2 and 4 happen without asking, put a short rule in each client: a Cursor Rule, CLAUDE.md or Claude project instructions, ChatGPT custom instructions. The rule makes it more likely, not guaranteed.
If you only need two of the three tools, see sharing context between Claude and Cursor and between ChatGPT and Claude.
Where your data is
Content is stored in Frankfurt, on Supabase in AWS eu-central-1, and the server runs on Render in Frankfurt. Supported content fields are encrypted at rest with AES-256-GCM, with a key derived per user from a master key held on the server. Some providers process limited data outside the EU, for example Resend for email delivery; the EU data residency page lists every subprocessor and where it processes data. Palim does not use your stored conversations to train models. The operator is a person established in Germany, and the same page names the supervisory authority.
Honest limits
The encryption keys are held on the server, not on your device. The server decrypts content to search and distill it, and titles, tags, project names and timestamps are readable to it.
Search is keyword based. Titles and tags are matched through a blind index (keyed hashes of each word), and content is matched as text after decryption inside the server. It doesn't understand meaning. Use the words you'd expect in the saved text, or a tag or project filter.
Nothing moves unless a Palim tool is called. In Claude, Cursor and ChatGPT that depends on you asking or on the model following your instruction, and sometimes it won't.
Palim only sees what a client sends when a tool is called. It doesn't read your repository or your chat history on its own.
Palim is in beta. The free version is what exists today. Paid plans are planned but not active.
FAQ
Does Palim sync my chats automatically between tools? No. It stores what a connected client saves through a Palim tool. Nothing is pulled from Claude, Cursor or ChatGPT in the background.
Do I need an API key? Not for Claude, Claude Code, Cursor or ChatGPT. They use OAuth. Some other clients, like the Perplexity Mac app, use an API key.
Can ChatGPT on the free plan use Palim? No. Creating a custom app in ChatGPT needs a paid plan.
Can I get my data out? You can export individual sessions as Markdown, JSON or text, and the Brain as a Markdown vault. You can delete sessions and memories with Palim tools. A single export of every data class isn't available yet.
Does search understand meaning? No. It matches keywords today.
